So I've got a new blog! Yay! What better way to celebrate than by sharing some awesome news from a favorite author? The wonderful H. L. Burke is gearing to release Heart of the Curiosity through Uncommon Universes Press.

The secret lies with the Heart.

Born in a small town in north central Oregon, H. L. Burke spent most of her childhood around trees and farm animals and was always accompanied by a book. Growing up with epic heroes from Middle Earth and Narnia keeping her company, she also became an incurable romantic.

An addictive personality, she jumped from one fandom to another, being at times completely obsessed with various books, movies, or television series (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Star Trek all took their turns), but she has grown to be what she considers a well-rounded connoisseur of geek culture.

Married to her high school crush who is now a US Marine, she has moved multiple times in her adult life but believes that home is wherever her husband, two daughters, and pets are.

Project Reveal: The She Shed

Many of us learned lessons during the pandemic, especially in the early stages when various states and countries were under some form of lockdown. We may have learned a new hobby or skill. Perhaps we learned we weren't as introverted as we thought (or maybe the opposite). Most parents learned a whole new level of parenting challenge as they tried to pick up homeschooling skills. One of the lessons I learned: if I am in the house, it does not matter how many other adults are available, my children will ask me for whatever it is they need or want. Prince Charming is a great support in every way. He cheerfully takes care of the children so I can write. But they will still come ask me. After one day of frustration, my husband jokingly suggested I use the garden shed as an office. I brushed it off at first. The garden shed is an old one-car garage. She-Shed Update: Let There Be Light

 Readers, January went by so very fast! In that time, we worked quite a bit on the she-shed, when weather was on our side. So this will be mostly pictures, but here's our progress so far. New, 3x4 foot windows have been installed on each side of the shed.  Window on North side along with replaced siding. Even the little ones got to help. So much light! We've roped visiting family into helping out too. Thanks, James! Along with the addition of windows, there has been repair work to the north siding. This is where we had the most damage. We also have installed the new door to the front. This was a bigger project than first anticipated, and definitely a learning experience! One of the things we learned was that the old plywood we hoped to use as sheathing wasn't going to work. So off it came. Gary enjoyed helping measure the openings as new sheathing was put in.
